Clicking on the Modeling Workspace Tab will take your selected object into Edit Mode.
When you're in Edit Mode the Quick Tools menu will show many of the Modeling Tools.
Clicking on the Modeling Workspace opens up the Modifiers Tab of your Properties Editor.
The Menus at the top of the 3D view change when you enter Edit Mode.
